Hardwood Guide

Hardwood is no exception to the high standards we hold for all of our flooring here at Harry Katz Carpet One Floor & Home. Hardwood flooring is known to be a luxurious and durable product. Made from some natural materials, most hardwood floors these days are made from sustainable materials that are responsibly sourced for those who are environmentally conscious.

We are your local flooring experts, so we know hardwood flooring in an investment. Choosing the right hardwood floor can be confusing, but we are here to help you sort through it all. Hardwood flooring is meant to be installed in on or above grade rooms such as living rooms and bedrooms. You can install hardwood floors in kitchens as well, but you must clean up spills right away in addition to regular maintenance.

Expert Advice - Hardwood Styles

Join our very own Jim Aaron, VP of Merchandising for Carpet One Floor & Home, for some information on the all the different looks and style available in hardwood floors.

Types of Hardwood

Choose from solid or engineered hardwood, exotic or traditional, even choose the color and plank width. You can make hardwood flooring custom to your home that fits your lifestyle and personal style. Stick with the trends that are popular today like hand scraped or rustic, or stick with traditional warm wooden uniform looks.

Solid and engineered are the two major options you have when choosing a hardwood floor. Both feature favorable benefits for your home. Solid hardwood is made with a simple construction, and feature timeless beauty and value adding appeal. Engineered hardwood is made with a modern layered construction, which creates stability within the plank and allows engineered hardwood to be installed in many spaces around your home.

Hardwood Installation

Hardwood may be a durable flooring option but it does have its limitations. For example, solid hardwood should be installed in on and above ground rooms like bedrooms, living rooms, and dining rooms. Engineered hardwood flooring has a little more wiggle room and can be installed in kitchens, hallways and even basements. So long as you care for your hardwood floors and do not continuously beat on them, they will last a long time in your home.

Be sure to avoid installing hardwood in places with a lot of heat and moisture like bathrooms and laundry rooms.
